- lotsofpulp 1y agoVenezuela is not part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
- riffraff 1y agoNATO is a defensive alliance, why should it be involved in this? Also, any sane government would be against starting a war against Venezuela for no reason. (But I don't think there's gonna be a war)
- azernik 1y agoNATO only guarantees the mutual defense of its neighbors. I presume you mean the UN? They can only actually do anything about international law violations if no permanent UNSC member vetoes it. The US is a permanent member, so...
- Vasbarlog 1y agoOf course there are international laws being broken. But as always, the laws apply to all except the US.
- _heimdall 1y agoYou honestly think the US is the only country violating international law without being held to account?
- apexalpha 1y agoNATO has a clause that says it does not fuck with anything happening in the southern hemisphere. This was done at the request of the US who did not want to defend European colonies.

- mmooss 1y agoWhat clause, if you know?
- forgotTheLast 1y agoArticle 6 >For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack: >on the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, on the Algerian Departments of France 2, on the territory of Turkey or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer; >on the forces, vessels, or aircraft of any of the Parties, when in or over these territories or any other area in Europe in which occupation forces of any of the Parties were stationed on the date when the Treaty entered into force or the Mediterranean Sea or the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer.
- mmooss 1y agoThanks. That doesn't seem to rule out colonies, just new ones in the southern hemisphere.
