Why not just type “fc” and edit your multiline command in a real editor? (Like you’ve been able to do since at least the 1980s). I know I’m going to come across as a bitter old geezer, but with a lot of things like this the “features” seem to be pale imitations of things which already exist and the real root problem is people just don’t invest the time to learn the tools they already have.
