Amazon cuts more than 2,300 jobs in Washington state as part of broader layoffs
- DaveZale 1y agoI am not seeing the predicted, "AI will actually create more jobs than it eliminates" thesis play out. Is it wise to be rushing into this "full speed ahead and damn Putin's nuclear powered torpedos"? And does Putin even need a new torpedo? We seem to be doing it to ourselves without outside intervention.
- bigfatkitten 1y agoAI is not eliminating any jobs. Management are eliminating jobs, and then spending the cash savings on AI initiatives. These initiatives are not necessarily related to the work previously performed by those ex-employees.
- DaveZale 1y agooh my! I can guess who you work for!

Giving us a hint into where the rest of the layoffs are likely to occur. > A detailed list[1] included with the state filing shows a wide array of impacted roles, including software engineers, program managers, product managers, and designers, as well as a significant number of recruiters and human resources staff. 1: https://cdn.geekwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/amazon-warn.pdf https://cdn.geekwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/amazon-w...
