I’ve heard defenses of PE saying they make things efficient. But it never sounds convincing because they largely do it by taking away from others. Employees, customers, etc. They don’t actually improve the core product or service. They just extract some value at it when the arbitrage is worth it. That’s about it. I can’t think of why it’s a net positive.
