What's your policy for complying with the patchwork of national biometrics laws?
- toomuchtodo 11mo agoIgnore them? Operate outside of US reach. The tubes are global. EDIT: Legally, you have no right to privacy in public, if your photo is captured in public (US centric), broadly speaking. You have the right to record law enforcement officers exercising their official duties in public. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/02/yes-you-have-right-film-ice https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/02/yes-you-have-right-fil... https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/08/federal-judge-upholds-arizonans-right-record-police https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/08/federal-judge-upholds-... https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/02/fourth-circuit-individuals-have-first-amendment-right-livestream-their-own-traffic https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/02/fourth-circuit-individ... https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2022/07/victory-another-court-protects-right-record-police https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2022/07/victory-another-court-...
- yasp 11mo agoTaking someone's photo is different than storing their biometrics. The latter would violate laws such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biometric_Information_Privacy_Act https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biometric_Information_Privacy_...
- toomuchtodo 11mo agoSo avoid being subject to the US jurisdiction, if applicable. Do not store data or operate the system from within the US, or any country within US reach. https://owasp.org/www-community/Threat_Modeling_Process https://owasp.org/www-community/Threat_Modeling_Process
- visekr 11mo agoNo biometrics collected. It's only scanning bodys, clothes and details on gear.
