I love the overhead projector adding another level of information to this.
I wonder how hard it would be to make one of these of my town.
Surely there's publicly available lidar data that I could import into some software to slice it into squares small enough for me to 3D-print? Although I guess I'd have to make sure I'm not just printing noise where trees are...
- pineaux 1y agoit depends how big you want to scale it. This one must be quite costly by the look of it. I wouldnt be surprised if it costs multiple hundreds of thousands to realise this maquette.
- pavel_lishin 1y agoOh, I'm sure - this is a professional installation. I'd have a budget of... whatever filament I have laying around :P Hell, might be easier to somehow convert my 3D printer into something that can cut XPS foam instead.
