The current AI buildup is based on an almost metaphysical bet that intelligence can be simulated in software and straightforwardly scaled by increasing complexity and energy usage. Personally, I remain skeptical that is the case. What does seem likely is that “intelligence” will eventually be redefined to mean whatever we got out of the AI buildup.
