Seems like this guy has a financial incentive to believe the thesis of his piece because he worked on a tool that replaces* programmers. Still worth considering the veracity though.
- fragmede 1y agoDoes that really impeach his sentiment though? The man's old, been working in tech probably his whole life. I'm guessing he's well off enough, even if he's not independently wealthy. If AI-bubble go pop, he's got enough to retire on. I mean, he could be a con man, and doesn't really believe in what he's saying, and I've been taken in as a rube. If line go up, he's not going to suddenly come into unforeseen riches, and if line go down, well, his social security's still worth something. So it doesn't make sense to me that the fact that, yeah, he's probably got some money riding on this thing going well is going to make him be dishonest with how he sees things going. And yeah, since it seems to be relevant, I'm also in the AI industry somewhere and my salary comes from line go up, so maybe that makes this comment a paid advertisment somehow, even though I didn't give any specific names.
