Exploring IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
- Showfom 1y agoI now use Matrix and Telegram instead of IRC.
- NKosmatos 1y ago/me remembers the good old days of IRC, the netsplits and all the other good & bad things of the internet wild west…
- MomsAVoxell 1y agoFor me just now, I had to take a bit of a breather and calm down for a second, as soon as I saw "Exploring IRC" I was taken back 30 years in time or so, when IRC was brand newish, and it paid to have a text file somewhere full of details to join the network and find out, in realtime, what was happening in the world. Oh, how woolly things were before the web.
- sans_souse 1y agohttps://netsplit.de https://netsplit.de is a good resource for finding servers and networks as well as chat rooms across all of them, and a healthy dose of analytics data as well.
- dewey 1y agoThese days I just use https://www.irccloud.com/ https://www.irccloud.com/ as it comes with a decent mobile app and a good web interface and everything is in sync like any modern chat app. Getting this working with znc is a lot of work.
- Lapsa 1y agointernational return coupons
- omgmajk 1y agoSome communities are still heavily invested in IRC. It's good to see the same faces from 10-20 years ago still around.
