Discussion of the Benefits and Drawbacks of the Git Pre-Commit Hook

  We found it annoying to change formatting and linting rules asynchronously with the repo, you get a changes from the commit hook for files you did a semantic or feature change. Needs discipline (or automatuon again?) to apply those non-functional changes across the repo to cleanly separate them from the other commits and not get a mix of linting rules depending on when a file was touched.
