I'm disappointed in The Guardian for taking Thiel seriously. I thought they were better than that.
- measurablefunc 1y agoLots of people take him seriously. That's why he has so much money & can give lectures about how regulating AI is accelerating the arrival of the anti-christ (who is totally not Peter Thiel by the way).
- labrador 1y agoFinancial acumen does not make one a prophet
- measurablefunc 1y agoIt does for a significant portion of the general population.
- labrador 1y agoYes, and that's a problem. People thought Bernie Madoff was a great man.
- measurablefunc 1y agoI agree but that's how it is. People are mesmerized by financial wealth.
- worik 1y agoIt would be folish not too He is a highly funtioning lunatic who operates an arms company, has huge resources and is inserting himself into international politics Take him seriously
- labrador 1y agoWhat am I supposed to do with his musings on the Anti-Christ? What's his point even? Is he the new Marshall Applewhite so I should get some poison ready for when he gives the signal when it's time to leave Earth? It's like Trump nonsense about windmills killing whales. Will The Gaurdian take that seriously and do an in depth article about windmills and whales? Oh wait they did [1] but they put "false claim" in the title. How about they call the Thiel article "Tech billionaire Peter Thiel's deranaged fantasies about the antichrist." Keep it real please, The Gaurdian. [1] How a false claim about wind turbines killing whales is spinning out of control in coastal Australia "They have imported some of the absolute worst tactics of Donald Trump and others who use deliberate misinformation" https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/12/how-a-false-claim-about-wind-turbines-killing-whales-is-spinning-out-of-control-in-coastal-australia https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/12/how-a-fa...
