This is my entire point. It’s because Sweden has many parties and their math groups politically close parties with politically distant parties as “the outparty”. It might be correct, but if the Swedes weren’t modest at all but deeply hated parties on the other side of the spectrum (but not the ones nearby), you’d see roughly the same graph.
