First AI came for the artists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not an artist
- bluefirebrand 1y agoSpeak for yourself. I've been shouting against AI from minute 1, in defense of artists and anyone else It doesn't matter. People are convinced it's a miracle technology, so I'm just a backwards luddite resisting progress
- mrbadguy 1y agoKeep at it, friend. You are not alone.
- bluefirebrand 1y agoThanks, I really appreciate it
- richardw 1y agoIt derives from a poem: First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me
- jncfhnb 1y agoKind of the opposite of the article’s sentiment

I think AI is a productivity boost, it just takes less times to solve the small problems and get reasonable advice for aynthing beyond. Perhaps it reduced required headcount to implement some features. But companies that expel their knowledge workers for some AI solution probably won't survive long. Those that understand the tooling advantage, will get ahead though. I love AI image generation, but many certainly do not enjoy the results. I can see some people skimping on paying artists. First I thought translators would be hit hard by AI, but you probably still need them as well to be decently sure about correctness. And it remains true that any creativity produced by AI is basically still just a function of the creativity of other people.
