There are also antivirals for Herpes simplex and zoster, HIV, Hepatitis B and C and probably others that i don't know about. It's still a small arsenal but it not limited to Flu and Covid.
- rediguanayum 1y agoGood to know. I'm repeating what an EM doc told me available in her community hospital i.e. they only have Tamiflu and Paxlovid, which is why even if she did have access to Viral panels, they couldn't do anything more to treat those other viral infections.
- Fomite 1y agoI'd be astonished if they didn't have acyclovir. More cheekily, all HIV medications are antivirals. What I suspect you were being told is "For a respiratory illness presenting like this, we only have tamiflu and paxlovid."
