I could see theoretical CS merging back into math, and software engineering being part of engineering. The latter is more likely than the former.

I could see theoretical CS merging back into math, and software engineering being part of engineering. The latter is more likely than the former.
- reinhardt 14y agoI don't see anything merging back. The trend towards more and more specialization and compartmentalization has been going on forever and there's no reason to believe it will be inverted any time soon.
