Chinese bridge, designed by Chinese engineers, built by Chinese workers, captured with (we assume) a Chinese drone.
What a spectacular scene.
I am proud on behalf of all the people who worked together to achieve this.
- carabiner 1y agoChina is like a modern Roman empire. Masters of civil engineering.
- thom 1y agoYup, similar number of slaves too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_the_Roman_Empire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_the_Roman_Empire https://www.walkfree.org/global-slavery-index/country-studies/china/ https://www.walkfree.org/global-slavery-index/country-studie...
- intalentive 1y agoA confident, unified people under competent leadership can accomplish great things. I wish the Chinese continued success and hope their example eventually spurs the development of a new ruling class in the West.
- Hnrobert42 1y agoEspecially when dissent is ruthlessly crushed and any record of it is erased.
- M95D 1y agoAlso coming to other parts of the world, but without any new bridges.
- carabiner 1y agoHonestly, I would give up my right to vote or to speak against the government in exchange for free healthcare and cheap housing.
- Hnrobert42 1y agoOr you could exercise your right to vote and speak against the government to get healthcare and cheap housing.

- carabiner 1y agoYeah, that's been so effective!
- intalentive 1y agoThe West also crushes dissent: try to organize a pro-Palestinian protest on a university campus and tell us how it goes. Crushing dissent is simply what governments do. In the meantime I would like to see more Hoover Dams and Apollo programs here, with fewer tent cities and high-speed rail boondoggles. This will require a ruling class that 1) is competent and 2) cares for the people it governs.
