- dang 1y agoWe don't have the resources to do that. If you want a longer explanation, I wrote about this quite a bit in last month's thread—see https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45094555 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45094555 and especially https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45118501 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45118501.
- coolThingsFirst 1y agoBut it's not that difficult to implement that functionality, if company posts more than 3 times a year you can ping them if they really are hiring. We are not asking for policing but every publicly available forum is swamped with ghost jobs and consultancies which are basically farming resumes and personal data. It makes the internet barely usable. These are not good faith actors.
- dang 1y agoI have to disagree there—this is a complicated domain and I'm afraid it would be quite difficult to get right. For example, I'm sure there are quite a few legit companies posting more than 3 times a year. Excluding them wouldn't be a good strategy; they might well be some of the best places to get hired. You're certainly correct that there are bad actors, on both sides of the hiring transaction—that is, there are fake jobs and also fake job applicants. Unfortunately it is a hard problem to solve, and we have no particular expertise in it.
