Signal threatens to leave Europe if Chat Control is accepted
- ReptileMan 1y agoAnd we - all 4 users of it will be very sad /semi sarcastic It never caught traction here.
- furkansahin 1y agoI don't think the problem is if signal leaves EU or not.
- ggm 1y agoOdd comment. You may be in a bubble, I may too, they're different bubbles: I do signal with fellow geeks in ietf and related contexts, with family, and newspapers use it rather than telegram for tips. They're in europe. It didn't get traction in your circuit. It's used heavily by politicians.
- yakbarber 1y agoI don't know where your here is but where my here is, most of my contacts are on signal and it's probably the main app I use to chat with everyone
- bogantech 1y agoAll the politicians are using it
- ggm 1y agoI applaud signals oversight for maintaining their stance. I hope they keep it up. This is the least worst governance choice they can make. I think Meredith is doing a fine job advocating for the fundamentals here.
- cranberryturkey 1y agouse https://qrypt.chat https://qrypt.chat
- longitudinal93 1y agoWon't that get blocked too? In any event Signal is already quantum-safe and open source and audited.
- zarzavat 1y agoIllegal ≠ blocked
- cranberryturkey 1y agohow is qryptchat illegal??
- cranberryturkey 1y agoI don't think signal is quantum-safe...I thought they used an older encryption scheme.
- f4uCL9dNSnQm 1y agoI am not sure if threatens is the right word. Their whole service model is incompatibilie witch such law, they have to quit EU if chat control is passed.
