The interesting thing about AI to me is it's got a bit of a "meta" effect in that it's giving generic software engineering a boost by increasing productivity there. So you have direct application of AI replacing existing jobs, but then for everything AI can't do, the increase in productivity of regular software engineering is accelerating automation of those things through standard software. For me, the second effect is more prominent: still maintaining / hiring the same staff but we are taking on qualitatively different things that we would not have accepted due to complexity or workload reasons now.
