I wonder what the mechanisms of the recent progressive/liberal retreat have been. Like what incentives changed for all these companies to speak out for liberal causes to now the ADL defending a Nazi salute and following everything Musk says.
- FranzFerdiNaN 1y agoEasy: profit over principles. The wind changed when Trump became president so companies change. It was all performative anyhow. And the ADL is a joke anyhow. They only care about defending Israel, and based on Israel’s genocide it’s not that strange that Nazism is totally fine in their eyes. It’s a case of the abused becoming the abuser.
- techblueberry 1y agoEasy? During the first administration it was popular to oppose Trump. What evidence exists that companies that support this stuff are making more profit? And how did they know so quickly it would be the case? Disney said the lost over a million subscribers when they cancelled Jimmy Kimmel, so again what is the specific mechanism / incentive in the other direction?
