- cancelbubble 14y agoLeading is the space between lines of type, technically the distance between baselines (think line-height in CSS). It comes from back in the day when type was cast in lead and you'd put "spacers" in between the lines of type to space them out. I remember doing this back in high school in an awesome printing class where we had a Heidelberg Windmill press, I think it was called. These were before offset presses, which we also had.
- stan_rogers 14y agoLeading (pronounced ledding) is the spacing between lines of text. It was originally adjusted using strips of lead (Pb) between lines of type; thus the name.
- state 14y agoAnd in our world of pixels on the web you might think of it as the line-height property in CSS.
