- superkuh 1y agoSo take the battery out. And before you say, I can't, well, you've made a bad choice for the world we currently live in.
- muwtyhg 1y agoYeah, just live in a cave in the middle of nowhere. A sure-fire solution for everyone! You expect SO MUCH diligence from individuals while removing any responsibility for the situation from the companies perpetrating it. I now have to make my choice of phone based on the ability to remove the battery so that I cannot be tracked by my own government? That is insane.
- superkuh 1y agoIs it really that much of a problem to chose a tracking device you can turn off? We've established in this thread that it was a known thing re: the devices forever. The only difference now is that our institutions are failing us. And that's wild and crazy, yeah ("That is insane."). But being able to shut your phone/tracking device off is not a big or crazy ask. And it's not going to wildly alter your life if you do so. You should consider it seriously even if you've been lagging a bit behind, or lacking lived experience, with the state of the world. No better time to adapt to uncomfortable new realities than now.
