- testing22321 1y agoI had a dumb phone from 2011-2015. I have not had a phone of any kind since. I just don’t think it will make my life better.

- mikestew 1y agoDesktop computer? I'm not seeing the disconnect: why do you think a phone is required? OTPs? There are solutions for that.
- m463 1y agoI think you just answered why I see "call me" (in addition to "text me") for 2-factor login codes. I guess the "call me" dialog can be used to call a home phone. but yeah, I wonder what kind of other id "factors" they have.
- throwaway81523 1y agoI'm pretty sure RMS has never had a cell phone. He also (as of 10 or so years ago) had famously never eaten at McDonalds. He went to some lengths to maintain that. It wasn't really about disliking the food or the company. He said he wanted for there to always be at least one person on Earth who had never eaten there, and the only way to ensure that was to make himself be that person.
