Bear in mind that approximately half of the US (voting) population voted for this. It's not rational to believe that they perceive this in the same way you do.

- nofriend 1y agoThey voted for 2016-2020 trump. That was a very different trump from the one we have now.
- AnimalMuppet 1y agoThey also voted for 2024-2028 Trump.
- johnnyanmac 1y agoThey voted for 2024 Trump hoping to relive 2016 Trump. Which makes no sense to begin with in my eyes, but sure. Times weren't as drastic back then. The sinking of his polling numbers definitely suggest buyers' regret, though.
- ahmeneeroe-v2 1y agoTrump is more popular than ever. Hegseth is incredibly well respected amongst combat vets.
- johnnyanmac 1y agoBy what metric? Show statistics, not your personal feelings. https://www.economist.com/interactive/trump-approval-tracker https://www.economist.com/interactive/trump-approval-tracker https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/explore/public_figure/Pete_Hegseth https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/explore/public_figu... I'll even ask Gemini if that's your authority on matters. 8 don't see any metric where your statement is sound.
- ahmeneeroe-v2 1y agoElected officials aren't voted in by "approval rating", but by their popularity vs other candidates. "Approval rating" is not a real KPI. The next poll of Trump's popularity will be the midterms. Until then all both of us have are feelings.
- AnimalMuppet 1y agoDude, you said "more popular than ever". When questioned, you say "all we have are feelings"? That's a pretty weak answer, especially when the other guy's presenting actual evidence...
- ahmeneeroe-v2 1y agoThe GP gave statistics about approval ratings, but nobody is elected on their approval rating, so I wouldn’t call that “evidence”. Elected officials are elected based on votes vs an opposing candidate. In other words popularity vs approval rating. The first test of Trump’s popularity will be in the 2026 midterms.
- ethbr1 1y agoBy your logic, there's no way to measure popularity between elections. Ergo: Trump can only be said to be heisen/un/popular until the wave function collapses in the next election. Which means your original statement >> Trump is more popular than ever. Hegseth is incredibly well respected amongst combat vets. isn't valid. (Per what you claim to believe about the measurability of politician popularity)
- ahmeneeroe-v2 1y ago>Until then all both of us have are feelings Yeah man that's exactly what I said. >Elected Officials Hegseth isn't an elected official, so nothing I said about elections is applicable to him. I did make a claim about Hegseth being "well respected by combat vets" which you will notice is different from both "approval rating" and "popularity" and also not at all relevant to the YouGov poll cited above.
