Unlike Mozilla's browser, I'd like to believe that our search engine is getting better with each update?
Mozilla fell into this trap as its business model was fundamentally broken (majority revenue coming from biggest compatitor). Our business model is healthy and the more apps we have in the ecosystem the stronger the ecosystem gets.
- marcus_holmes 1y ago> the more apps we have in the ecosystem the stronger the ecosystem gets that only works if the apps somehow reinforce each other, and spending time developing one app also adds something to the other apps. I'm not sure that's true here. I don't see how an LLM-based news service makes your search service stronger?
- freediver 1y agoThey do - Kagi News, Summarize and Translate all contribute back to the ecosystem and are getting integrated cross-product. We are in the business of information consumption and consuming news is one of the fundemental use cases. Having our own pipleine for this is beneficial long term.
