What's remarkable is that all these tax cuts balloon the deficit; butchering government services and putting tariffs on consumer goods doesn't come anywhere close to balancing it. As Dick Cheney put it, “Reagan proved that deficits don't matter.” Though that doesn't prevent people from running on the deficit, then doing exactly the opposite in office -- and nobody seems to mind.
