Anthropomorphizing statistical language models doesn't do anyone good.

- xtiansimon 1y agoTo put it in the words of John Connor: “That Terminator is out there, it can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with, it doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear, and it absolutely will not stop… EVER, until you are dead!” LOL. Years ago I was listening to an interview with a MIT Media Lab alumnus, who answered an audience question about Star Trek. Of course she’s a fan, she explained, but Star Trek is a work of fiction, and her work in the lab, while imaginative, is not fictional. Similarly, anthropomorphic technology is entertaining, but stop there. At least that’s the notion I subscribe to.
