We are closer now than we've ever been. Just because some people think cancer isn't curable doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Especially because of all the cancers we've cured.
- techblueberry 1y agoI mean we absolutely should spend money on research. Weve made enormous strides in the past 100 years. I was making a pretty narrow joke/observation about political cynicism . Regardless of whether Cancer is a disease that is curable it is a constellation of conditions that are treatable/curable.
- foxyv 1y agoIt is definitely true that a lot of politicians like to "Appeal to Hopelessness" saying things like "We may as well." Especially regarding healthcare and climate change... Unfortunately the Overton window has been moved over so far, such humor is almost impossible to differentiate from serious statements.
