How quickly does your laptop start? I like this idea a lot, I am now going down the rabbithole of finding which distributions boot the fastest (I remember this mattered a lot to linux users about 20 years ago)
- crabmusket 1y agoI want to say it's like 30 seconds to desktop with Fedora and KDE? I haven't timed it, it's probably less than that.
- dimitar 1y ago30s might be the threshold for me; any more than that it is distracting; since this is a laptop I might open it just to check my email for example
- gizzlon 1y agoAre you really optimizing (for) the right thing here? How many years will it take to get back the time you now spend researching boot time? :p I used to have a computer that would use several minutes. I would just turn it on, then get some coffee and have a little pee. It was fine :)
