To put this into perspective this datacenter would have the land area of Monaco (740 acres) given assumptions of a 80kW/rack per case.

- dguest 1y agoMonaco is 2 km^2 [1]. I'm confused because if I assume each rack takes up 1 square meter I get a much smaller footprint: around 12 hectares or 17 football fields. And that assumes that the installation is one floor. I don't know much about data centers but I would have thought they'd stack them a bit. Am I the only person who had to look up how big Monaco was? - vessenes 1y agoSo, basically a single BYD factory
- oezi 1y agoMonaco is so tiny it fits into Berlin's Tempelhofer Feld (a circular park inside the city).
- ben_w 1y agoI mean, you're not wrong, but Tempelhofer is also a former airport, so had to be quite big. And since Brexit, Berlin is the biggest city in the EU.
- rhubarbtree 1y agoParis? I mean, if we are considering the wide area. Otherwise London wouldn’t have been considered the largest.

- ahmeneeroe-v2 1y agoTo put Monaco in perspective, the US could fit 4.8M Monacos
- mhb 1y agoTo put Rhode Island in perspective, it would hold 1,340 Monacos. https://www.comparea.org/MCO+US_RI https://www.comparea.org/MCO+US_RI
