A Brief History of AppleWorks
- leakycap 1y agoThere isn't a single System 7 through Mac OS 9 screenshot in that article... what a shame! This is an excellent history starting with ClarisWorks: https://web.archive.org/web/20160310121630/http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/users/bob/clarisworks.php https://web.archive.org/web/20160310121630/http://groups.csa... And some discussion of this source when it was still available live on the web: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32267817 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32267817
- leakycap 1y agoI still use a real OS 9 machine running Claris Works 4.0.5 for my first draft when I take notes. It's such a second nature to me after decades of use that changing would be sand in the gears, and no other integrates suite comes close even in 2025.
- al_borland 1y agoI really tried to use AppleWorks in 2003, but there was too much friction for me. This is probably for the best, since iWork came out the next year.
