- rcrowley 1y agoPlanetScale always maintains three (or more, if you want) copies of the data and only acknowledges writes after they've been written to at least two cloud provider availability zones. Durability is provided via replication at the database layer rather than hidden in the slow network-attached block device. Most of our largest customers use Metal for their most critical data and all of them saw their 99th percentile latency plummet when they migrated.
