Would be great to see some articles on their technical approach, I assume they have used techniques to reach those scales based upon the fact the average pair of players are too far away from each other to be visible
- heretohelp 14y agoI can just about guarantee you they're abusing lensing to make it viable. (Not that that's a bad thing, WoW is the same way.) More impressive is the fact that the server can support 1,800 concurrent gaming-grade low latency clients regardless of lensing. That's really hard to do. These guys should be getting paid to implement low-latency protocols and servers.

- ch0wn 14y agoIt seems hard to general to get your hands on any modding code. Apparently the modding culture doesn't encourage opensource as much as other hacking circles.
- prezjordan 14y agoModding seems very 'credit-heavy' and it can be difficult to get credit for your work when a bigger, better team can simply fork your code and call it their own. Then again I don't have any experience in this field so I could be completely off-target.
- deelowe 14y agoThey trust client data. It makes scaling a lot easier (and cheating/griefing).
