I vividly remember watching a video of a former German Nazi who described what was appealing about it to him. His parents knew better and they felt he was being brainwashed. He described the arguments they would have, but he was determined to join the cause. Sometime later on the Eastern front he started to understand what his parents meant. As he said "but it was all too late."
