But very, very few people are willing to even knowingly put their lives at risk for their beliefs. In fact, the only person who did so in this entire situation is the shooter. Kirk almost certainly didn't think he was in any real danger. You or I writing HN comments certainly don't. I don't think the world would be a better place if our bluffs on firmly held beliefs were more regularly called. But it definitely doesn't sit right with me that you glamorized the very kind of extreme behavior that you're criticizing.
