My personal, ad-hoc strategy for keeping up with news (aside from HN): * Glance Newspaper headlines on the metro or at newsstands. * Every quarter or so, pick up a copies of The Economist and New Scientist. * Hit wikipedia for an intro to issues/subjects that I find interesting. * Track down books/papers on anything that I want to delve deeper into.
