Who buys an MP3 player in 2025? Why music streaming doesn't always cut it
- ggm 1y agoI've thought about reviving my Archos. Mainly though I'd want solid state storage, and it's IDE bus attachment expecting an IDE HDD.
- doublerabbit 1y agoIt was hard but I did eventually discover a non-android, non-wifi, bluetooth enabled device that allows me to stream Bluetooth from my phone to the player. Allowing me to play streaming services and keeping my phone separate. Granted you can't use bluetooth headphones while doing this but I've always preferred wired anyway. Added bonus it can act as a USB Dac, and plays FLAC,OGG too. Not cheap though. http://m.lotoo.cn/en/6k-index.html http://m.lotoo.cn/en/6k-index.html I still prefer minidiscs.

- Bender 1y agoI only use an MP3 player. If there is something decent online I use yt-dlp and then use ffmpeg with my preferred options. If it isn't local, it won't exist when the internet is gone. My phone is only for voice calls and text messaging and I keep that to a bare minimum.
