After yet another failed interview where I knew the answers but couldn't articulate them under pressure, I decided to build something to help.
The journey was harder than expected:
Month 1-2: Basic Chrome extension + audio capture. Harder than anticipated—browser security restrictions around audio are intense.
Month 3-4: Real-time transcription pipeline. Tried several approaches before settling on Whisper. Latency was the killer.
Month 5: AI response generation. Prompt engineering for interview context took forever. Generic responses suck.
Month 6: Polish, privacy features, multi-platform support.
The result: VoiceMeetAI, which listens to interview questions and provides real-time coaching suggestions.
First real test: Used it in 4 interviews, got 3 offers. The confidence boost alone was worth the development time.
For other developers with interview anxiety—you're not alone. Sometimes we need to build our own solutions.
