what happened with socialization, friends and parents
- pavel_lishin 1y agoDo you have a lot of friends who'd be willing to watch your children for 9 hours a day while you work, especially young infants?
- tbirdny 1y agoNo one does because everyone needs to have a job to survive in the US today. It used to be that many couples could survive on a single income. Not only did that allow them to better care for their kids, it also allowed them to help their siblings, parents, other family members, friends, neighbors, and community.
- habinero 1y ago> It used to be that many couples could survive on a single income Historically, this is not true - women have always taken in work. Living on someone else's dime was for the wealthy only. The post-war years were a historical anomaly.
- jonathanlb 1y ago> socialization, friends This still happen at daycare. If you have sent your kid to daycare/preschool, you'll know that kids become friends wit nother kids there, and parents can become friends withnother parents. A community forms because playdates are necessary when daycare/preschool is out. > parents Sometimes economic realities are such that both parents have to work to make ends meet. There are single-family households that also exist. Childcare is a necessity in these and other situations.
- rexpop 1y agoDaycare involves all of those things.
