You can throw many Android phones around without worrying, but a lot of people write them off as "plasticky". I personally don't mind plastic if it's done well

I personally don't mind plastic if it's done well (eg. SGS2/3), but metal and glass does feel nice in the hand.
- antirez 14y agoYep I used to have a nexus one at some point and it felt a lot more "fall resistant" than the iPhone indeed... I also don't care too much about plastic VS glass. Actually I like technology stuff made of good plastic cases, like 80's home computers ;)
- betterth 14y agoI've personally seen MANY shattered SGS2's and already 1 shattered SGS3. If you buy a glass front Android device because it's "more durable", you're going to have a bad time. They use the same or similar glass suppliers, and it will break very easily.
- bornhuetter 14y agoI didn't buy an SGS2 "because it's more durable". But I don't have a case and throw the thing around with no trouble. Not a scratch on the thing. I'm surprised you've seen "MANY shattered SGS2s", I've never seen one. Do you work in a phone shop?
- betterth 14y agoNope. Just mid twenty's people who I guess are rough on their devices. For the record, I own an iPhone 3G and have used it for over 4 years, and have not used a case in over 2 years.
- tesseractive 14y agoI agree. The Kevlar back on my Droid 4 feels like it's more shock resistant than a glass or aluminum back would be. I also like that it's water resistant.
- madprops 14y agoUntil a fatal drop makes your phone's screen to bleed blue ink.
