Chinese Regulators May Ban Hidden, Pop-Out Door Handles
- dlcarrier 1y agoIt's similar to the US banning pop-up headlights, because they're more prone to failure than fixed headlights.

Getting out of a car in an emergency should be completely obvious and work at all times. I would go further and ban separate electronic and mechanical door releases, making them the same. the tesla model S does this -- pull the handle a bit and it releases electronically, and with a little more travel and you get a mechanical release. I think the model Y has no mechanical release in the back seat? Going further to outside door handles - I hope they figure a way to have flush handles.
