I am not particularly fond of jazz myself. I've logged way more plays of Incapacitants than Mr. Coltrane, but his name seems to come up every time I study harmony. These alternative systems have been a creative boon for me, regardless of the genre I'm songwriting for. Also if you appreciate "honest racket" you may enjoy Peter Brötzmann.
