Why Rewriting Emacs Is Hard
- abstractspoon 1y agoWhen rewriting something is hard we often say that it relates to the code complexity. Might that be the reason here?
- rurban 1y agoHe explained it. Because of encodings complexities, which lead to exponential cases: backtracking regexp, and unicode case-folding. Plus the need for metadata to be carried along, and customizations, hooks, esp. making rendering slow.
