Treasury Secretary Says Government Weighing Declaring National Housing Emergency
- eth0up 1y agoHow would that contrast with the heavy handed smackdowns of the homeless? Does anyone wonder if there's a (or an affordable) housing shortage? Might be the fair thing to do before putting the homeless in internment camps, or even leveling their hovels. Semblance of compassion, are you out there? Somewhere? Hello!?
- palmfacehn 1y agoPerhaps if he cannot get lower rates out of the Fed, he will stimulate via other means? There's very little substance to the article.
- jfengel 1y agoSo what does a "housing emergency" entail? I imagine that it's when the entire country is infested with termites, and a huge fraction of the houses have to be burned. Then we have to build a lot of temporary housing so that people don't die. At least, that's what "emergency" means to me -- a situation so dire that we have to focus on the immediate problems. As opposed to, say, an excuse to throw out rules generally and permanently.
