Did you try using a recruiter? Not one that works for a company but one that matchmakes between candidates and companies. My last three jobs I've used a recruiter and this worked great as a filter.
- aaviator42 1y agoHow do you go about finding a recruiter? (for technical roles like system engineers)

- ChrisMarshallNY 1y agoIn my experience, they were absolutely awful. In the old days, they were awesome. More like talent agents, than matchmakers. They were usually older folks that advocated for you, maintained extensive Rolodexes (shows how long ago that was), which they exercised on your behalf (basically, they "networked" for you), and made pretty significant commissions. I believe that top-tier executive recruiters still work like this. These days, they seem to be very young, and, I suspect, make a great deal less money.
- biglyburrito 1y agoMaybe you found a diamond in the rough with that one recruiter. In the 25 years I've worked in tech, I've only worked with one (1) recruiter that was good, & they helped me land two positions over the course of a decade. The rest ranged from benign to harmless or incompetent.
- scarface_74 1y agoIn the 30 years I have worked in tech: 1. Jobs via me reaching out to external recruiter: 1999, 2012, 2016, 2018, 2023 2. Jobs via outreach from an internal recruiter: 2014, 2020 and 2024. My first job in 1996 was from ny returning from ab internship.
