> Ten people have been arrested so far in a “planned ambush” of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in north Texas.
> On July 4, the Alvarado Police Department announced that one of its police officers had been shot in the neck after responding to a call without stating the incident occurred outside of an immigration facility. It was the first of two officer involved shootings outside of a federal immigration facility in Texas this week, The Center Square first reported.
> What occurred was “a planned ambush with the intent to kill ICE corrections officers,” Larson said. “Make no mistake, this was not a so-called peaceful protest. It was indeed an ambush” to draw out people from inside “and it worked.”

- anigbrowl 1y agoWhat does this have to with agents being unmasked? Taht was outside an ICE facility. I'm not excusing it, but nor am I taking the claims in the indictment at face value, pending trial. I can't just give the administration the benefit of the doubt since it literally headed by a criminal.
- _mlbt 1y agoYou don’t think that these unhinged lunatics won’t attack ICE agents and their families?
- anigbrowl 1y agoI think we should make policy based on real events instead of imaginary ones. If people in the administration say something is happening, then it's up to them to provide evidence of it. Otherwise it seems safer to assume they are lying.
- _mlbt 1y agoThe ambush was a real event!!! A man was shot in the neck and nearly killed. WTF??? So does an ICE agent need to actually be murdered in cold blood for you to care about their safety?
- Freedom2 1y agoThat's a strawman argument and doesn't really engage curious discussion. GP never said that agents need to be murdered in cold blood, nor did they say that they didn't care about the agents' safety.
- kelseyfrog 1y agoICE agents willingly assume roles that involve inflicting harm on others. Given that, I cannot view their personal safety as a priority compared to the safety of those whose families and lives they disrupt.

- kelseyfrog 1y agoYour comment is somewhat perplexing. The characterization of "unhinged lunatics" seems misapplied here, as it is difficult to overlook the fact that ICE itself has consistently demonstrated behavior that could reasonably be described in precisely those terms. From family separations and indefinite detentions to systemic patterns of abuse and rights violations, the agency has engaged in conduct that undermines any claim to legitimacy or proportionality. To suggest that external actors are the destabilizing threat, while disregarding ICE's own record of cruelty and lawlessness, inverts the reality of the situation in a way that strains credulity. Perhaps there’s a more precise way you could describe people who resist ICE, since labeling them "unhinged lunatics" makes your point less clear.
- _mlbt 1y agoAmbushing ICE agents and attempting to murder them goes far beyond resistance.

- mdhb 1y agoIt’s actually an incredibly well established resistance tactic for what it’s worth. Just to give a specific real life example, when the IRA were fighting the British one of the tactics they would use for some time was to send their female volunteers into the bars where the British soldiers would go drinking on a Friday night to flirt with them and convince them to leave with the girls thinking they would fuck. When they finally got back to the apartment where she said she lived the IRA team would appear to finish the job. You might well argue (I would even say rightly with the benefit of hindsight) that that’s a shitty tactic but that same group of people are now the largest legitimate political party in Ireland and Northern Ireland as far as I know. But as a larger point, when your job becomes snatching innocent people off the streets with no right to a fair trial to send them to a dungeon in another country to be tortured and they have no hope of escape… I mean… you should probably expect violence in response to that. I don’t know what on earth gave you the idea that people would just see that happening on a daily basis and just respond with marching in the streets. A huge chunk of people would have no problem seeing that as a legitimate response. History is absolutely filled with those examples.
- AlecSchueler 1y agoWhy do you continually frame them as unhinged lunatics? You can just call them assassins or attempted murderers.
- zavertnik 1y agoThis was outside an immigration facility and not a result of the supposed doxing.
- _mlbt 1y agoOh so I guess that makes it okie dokie then. There’s no way these terrorists won’t start going after ICE agents and their families in their homes if they get doxxed. Don’t be so obtuse.
- jacquesm 1y agoOne man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
- _mlbt 1y agoWhy do people illegally in this country deserve to stay here? When you enter a country illegally or overstay your visa you should not act surprised when ICE agents facilitate your deportation. We have laws and processes to become a legal citizen and we cannot and should not just take in everyone who wants to come here.
- jacquesm 1y ago> Why do people illegally in this country deserve to stay here? Due process and all that. This is what is the problem. And then there is the way the current administration uses this as effectively a way to terrorize the population rather than to simply enforce the law. It's just red meat for the base, and ineffective at that. But: Don't forget to march in lockstep. And remember those jobs that were stolen when you can't afford your groceries anymore.

- stonogo 1y agoThis is not evidence of doxxing, or evidence that the masks prevent it. This happened at an immigration facility, and the victim wasn't even ICE. Every time I ask for evidence, I get something like this: only tangentially related. If someone is out there doxxing and attacking ICE agents, I expect to see charges brought. There'd be public record of that.
