People do like to see Apple as the underdog, even though some part of them realizes that headlines like "Apple Now Biggest-Ever U.S. Company" (WSJ) kind of contradict with the underdogginess. Actually, they're quite a phenomenon. It's rare to witness an actual fanbase with a company. With this one, the fanbase is extraordinarily big and extremly devoted. This goes far beyond the usual fanboy-ism. People actually love their Apple products [1].
