Until Taiwan become new HonKong and get reincorporated to China.
- amai 1y agoDid Hongkong economy improve since it belongs to China? Not at all: https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/economy/2024/1/26/in-hong-kong-decades-of-wealth-gains-evaporate-on-beijings-watch https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/economy/2024/1/26/in-hong-kong... I think especially Hongkong shows how Chinas dictatorship is actually holding it's economy back. If China would be a free country they would rule the world since a long time ago. But thanks to the iron grip of the communist party China will never be able to reach its full potential.
- maxglute 1y agoHK GDP grew by 7x since handover. It grew from 450B to 600B since HK crackdown. Reality is HK is portal to PRC wealth by PRC ascension, even pre handover. PRC decides how rich HK gets to be by deciding how much PRC economic activity HK gets to launder. Also TFW broken TW democracy is something to be emulated.
- amai 1y agoAccording to your own numbers it grew by 150B which is 33% in 30 years and not 700% as you wrote. Please learn math before you write propaganda for Bejing.
- maxglute 1y agoPer original comment: HK grew 700% since HANDOVER, 1997, i.e. 23 years. HK grew 33% since CRACKDOWN, 2019, i.e. 5 years. Please learn literacy and numeracy.
- maxglute 1y agoE: correction: I was off on post handover growth 250%. I used 87 gdp, not 97 gdp. Either way, stupid levels of PRC driven growth.
- amai 1y agoToday is 2025. Handover was 28 years ago not 23. So please check your math before posting. And please show citations for your growth numbers. They don't fit to the article I posted above. Have you even read that article or is that above your pay grade?
- maxglute 1y agoI've lax with my math because your claims are so ridiculous. AJ article is about stock performance, which is one index of economic improvement, that we can approximate in aggregate gdp ppp, which is easily referenced. Taking more than a few seconds and brain cells to respond to retarded insinuations that HK economy did not improve since handover, when HK economy is intimately linked to PRC economy, which has exploded since, is indeed beneath "my pay grade", i.e. personal time.
