It is somewhat disappointing that major European powers and the US are not represented (or only at very low level) because the Chinese victory over Japan is part of the allies victory over Japan. But the same goes when Russia is not invited to D-Day landings celebrations, etc.
Those celebrations have always been political under the veil of History.
What celebrations are taking place on the ROC/Taiwan side?
- defrost 1y agoI'll look into the ROC/Taiwan side if a get a chance later, what was in my feed this morning that gave a wry chuckle (and pause for thought) was someone getting epaulet envy: President Trump will reportedly have another big boy military parade later this year. You’ll recall that in June, Trump made the Army put on a parade on the streets of Washington with a bunch of tanks and fireworks for his birthday — an event that was also billed as the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Army. The event was widely regarded as an extremely expensive flop, complete with low turnout and squeaky tanks and, in the opinion of some, lackluster marching. .. The president was reportedly so disappointed by the marching — the marching specifically — that he is planning to throw himself another tyrant parade, this time featuring the Navy. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/where-things-stand/trump-was-disappointed-by-the-army-parade-on-his-bday-and-wants-to-try-again https://talkingpointsmemo.com/where-things-stand/trump-was-d...
