I think the only thing Hamas succeeded in doing is to expose Israel's evil acts to the world for a little while, until the west says "..., anyway" and goes back to being best buddies with Israel, singing and chanting how righteous they are. So far the only thing that's close to a sanction from the EU is Norway divesting from some Israeli companies[0] and the EU _proposing_ (!) to suspend Israel from a research program[1].   "just protecting their territory" does not necessitate the mass murder of civilian populace (yes, this includes Israel and all violent religious extremists who think this is acceptable), and HN is not the place to spread conspiracy theories about either 9/11 or a paramilitary invasion which recently killed over 1000 people.

      OP's post was removed but you are of course correct. What's disturbing is we are surrounded by extremist, black and white ideology that can see nor discuss no middle ground. Deeply depressing to see. Negative cycles are perpetuating and amplifying, instead of being tempered.

Hamas are the ones that willingly sacrificed the population of Gaza in their salafist quest to destroy Israel. Debate the war, say the war is horrible, but Hamas started this particular war. Civilian casualties are the entire point of their strategy.
